However they are available only for a select set of Linux distributions. The precompiled versions are created by me and always up to date. The PPA is not maintained by me, so I can't tell. If possible, an update to libstdc++ should fix it. Obviously one of the latest Ubuntu updates introduced a newer version of libstdc++ not available on Mint (yet). The precompiled version from Ubuntu used to be compatible with Linux Mint. I presume I need to install GLIBC, but not sure where from, for example.Īlso, is the PPA not being kept up to date? If not, should I just remove it/them from my system?

If I drop the file onto a terminal window, I get the message: /home/richard/Downloads/FreeFileSync/FreeFileSync' /home/richard/Downloads/FreeFileSync/FreeFileSync: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.20' not found (required by /home/richard/Downloads/FreeFileSync/FreeFileSync) If I could simply opt-out, it wouldn't be a problem, but some say it's not possible to do this. When I 'open' FreeFileSync (having decompressed the downloaded Ubuntu version) nothing happens. Aditionally freefilesync says that you can donate money to use the advertise-free version. Simplest solution is sync with 6.9 first, then upgrade to 6.14 (use the precompiled Ubuntu release), then sync again, and overwrite the database files (ignore the warning). The issue is likely that FFS 6.14 on Linux is not backwards compatible to the 6.9 version anymore. FreeFileSync versions on Windows and Linux are using different database file names, so there is no conflict.
